Friends: Pip
Mar 04, 2021
Hello, Thursday. Yay!
Thursday is my favorite day of the week, not that you're supposed to have favorites. Why Thursday? For many years it was the official start of our weekend. My husband stopped teaching on Friday because he often had to reschedule Friday lessons due to the start time of the evening's gig. But neither gigging nor teaching guitar is a concern now (there was a time not that long ago when either, but especially BOTH, would have been inconceivable!).
Now we both work on Friday (and part of Saturday and Sunday, too), but the sentiment remains. Yay Thursday!
This is a photo of my good friend, Pip, short for Pippin. He often jumps up on my short bookshelf and stands on his hind legs to look out the window (as he is here), to watch birds or blowing leaves.
We picked out Pip and his brother, Miles, after Christmas 2013. They were 4-month-old kittens. We were looking for one cat to replace ours that dearly departed in September 2012. I was finally ready for a new "friend" in our home. Scott and Emerson were on a mission to find a yellow/gold cat, but oddly there were only a couple (through the Humane Society) and both were overly skittish and in need of therapy. I wasn't up for that.
The woman also brought two gray cats, just in case. One bounced around the small room occasionally stopping to rub our ankles. He let us pick him up but then wanted down to play. The other was all about the love. Instant purrs. He liked being held.
We decided to go with a gray cat. Much friendlier. But which one? The playful one that gave ankle rubs or the super lovey one that purred non-stop? Scott said that since they were brothers we shouldn't separate them. We went home with both.
I'll introduce Miles another time and tell you about their names.
