Valentine's Day

blog Feb 14, 2021

Hello, Sunday.

Today is perhaps the most low-key celebration of Valentine's Day we have ever had in our family. It comes on a weekend of a major ice storm in which half of our family that lives just 20 minutes away has been without electricity since yesterday early afternoon with no timeline yet as to when it will return. And this is also still during the pandemic, so I didn't exactly go shopping to pick up a few small treats for them either. Like I did last year's Valentine's. I didn't feel like cooking, so we're having a DiGiorno's Pizza. Because nothing says "Valentine's" like pizza (frozen, but still delicious), right? Oh well.

This afternoon as I was lamenting that I had nothing for my guys (and DIL), I found a small box tucked away in a corner of my office. Apparently back in January, I was thinking ahead -- thank heavens! -- and had ordered online and had since completely forgotten. No surprise there. Inside were several chocolate bars. So we will still have a small treat after all. I won't be remembered (in my own mind) as the Scrooge of Valentine's Day 2021 after all. Chocolate saves the day. Whew!

And talk about timing, son and DIL just texted. They are coming over to warm up and take a hot shower--and we're throwing an extra pizza in the oven.

Perhaps the photo should be the pizza boxes. Ha!
