Wrestling with Words and an Old Watering Can
Jan 04, 2021
I mentioned the Akimbo Workshop that I took this past fall the other day. It helped me to get reacquainted with my voice (more or less), and to bravely post my art within the workshop. I still feel just a bit reluctant to say out loud and in public (gasp!) that my watercolor cards, acrylic paintings, and 'weirdo car photos' are art, but I'm flexing that little muscle.
I took time off over Christmas and thought it would be easy-ish to resume a daily post, but au contraire. It's been like pulling teeth. Super fun. Similar to how I felt last August at the beginning of the workshop. What to say? Wrestling with words, with topics. It's easy enough on a day where I made a card or have a fresh photo to post, but that is not every day. On the off days, what am I doing (with this blog)? Should I have a focus, and if so, should it be art? Or...is it okay to meander and ramble (within a reasonable distance) on the days when I do not have art to share? I trust that I will find my way. I will figure it out even though I'm at the beginning of this new blog. I need more time, more art practice, and to show up and post anyway to my small (tiny!) but mighty tribe. Perhaps that is what this shiny new year is about. Exploring. Outloud and in public.
